Voting for toilets and healthy environment in Maputo City

The electoral season in Mozambique is open. On October 10th we are going to have the fifth municipal elections in the country. This election will decide who are the new decision– makers and solvers of the various problems that affect the 53 large and small cities and towns of Mozambique. The debates held so far in the run up to the elections are more directed to conventional politics: the transfers of members from one party to another, the exclusion by the National Election Commission of three candidates from the opposition side, the anecdotes about temporary adversarial linkages that weave behind the scenes of parties. Attending the International Conference on Urban Health

This year I attended the International Conference on Urban Health that took place, late September, in Coimbra. For this conference, organized by ISUH, Universidade de Coimbra and Elsevier, I presented my work on Material Flow Analysis of water and nitrogen in Maputo which is based on Iana’s MSc thesis. Developing the institutional capacity in IWRM in the Zambezi Valley – Zamadzi project

Great news! We are involved in a new project in Mozambique and that’s always very exciting! In the past few months we have been quite busy setting-up a NUFFIC-funded capacity building project in the Zambezi Valley. The project is entitled Zamadzi and is shared with several Mozambican and Dutch partners and aims at developing the capacity of local stakeholders in Integrated Water Resources Management.
