We organized our first project meeting since the appointment of the four PhD candidates. The two-day meeting took place in Delft on the last week of September and everybody was presented, the PhD candidates and their supervisors and promotors; we were very happy to host Maria Rusca traveling from the UK and Nelson Matsinhe and Sandra Manuel from Mozambique. We would also like to thank Michel Riemersma for taking to time to be present during the first day and presenting the ideas that RoyalHaskoningDHV has for future developments in Maputo.
The objectives of this meeting were brainstorming on how to better integrate the social and the technical dimensions of the project and to discuss the research proposals of each PhD candidate. These proposals will be presented in late November, in Bangladesh, during an NWO workshop. The meeting went really well and there was a positive feeling throughout the discussions; we made great progress on defining common tasks and objectives.
Noor and Adriano presenting their work.
Joaquim discussing his ideas. Luuk and Celma preparing a presentation.
We also took the time to discuss how to further engage local stakeholders in the project and we defined very good strategies to achieve this. As soon as we finalize the minutes of the meeting these will be made available under Publications.
Nelson guiding us through the stakeholder mapping.
Finally, the meeting took place the at the Delft Art Centre which proved to be a perfect location, with good and welcoming facilities, helpful and friendly staff and delicious food. I am sure that we could have not picked a better place.
The beautiful architecture of the Art Centre Delft.
